GUATEMALAN MADE | GENDER NEUTRAL

‣ 100% hand-spun Guatemalan cotton

‣ Weaving technique: back-strap loom

‣ Dyed naturally with plants

‣ Handmade in Guatemala

‣ All products are entirely made by hand, there will always be a slight difference in color and dimensions

We have specialists in each part of the intricate jaspe process. Hundreds of people do the tying and dyeing work, but only a few specialize in labor tying. These few are “amarradores,” men and women who tie labor jaspe that originate from amarrador lineage.

Our amarradores first arrange the threads, then tie them into their designs. After dyeing, the threads are realigned before weaving. These first few steps are critical to the striking clarity of the handwoven patterns. Finally, once the textiles are dyed and woven, we send them to our impeccably skilled sewers who transform the fabric into our unique Jaspe Jackets.

WASH
Wash your textiles and wool pieces carefully by hand with a PH neutral soap. Due to the natural dyes used in our products, colored water may run on the first washes; especially with darker dyed fabrics. But don't worry, this is normal and won’t stain other fabrics.

DRY
Air dry only. Do not put your textiles and wool pieces in the drying machine, this will jeopardize the integrity of your product.

HANDMADE COTTON PIECES
‣ delicate wash with cold water
‣ preferably wash by hand
‣ hang dry
‣ steam, do not iron

HANDMADE WOOL PIECES
‣ spot wash with warm cloth + water
‣ vacuum to remove dust
‣ hang dry

Due to the handmade nature of our products, the color and patterning may vary slightly from piece to piece. We value both the imperfection and the organic magic in the colors of our products. We believe this gives a uniquely distinct character to each of our finished crafts.

 LONGEVITY
Avoid long periods of direct sun exposure. Natural plant-based dyes compared to synthetic dyes tend to fade in brightness with time. Follow our care instructions to ensure your new textiles stay bright and beautiful for years to come.
